Night + Market with Friends

by whitney on October 12, 2012

When our friends from Farm Wine Imports were in town for one of our Sunday tastings featuring their wines, we decided to gather around the table together and eat some good stuff. Where did we decide to dine? Night + Market. Where else? The funny thing about this dinner is that we barely drank any wines from the Farm portfolio (which is utterly fantastic.) We had a huge line-up of Farm wines to taste/drink the next day, so we weren’t missing out.

We started off the evening with what Jill claims to be the “best California Chardonnay I’ve ever had.” It was Arnot-Roberts brand new release- the 2011 Santa Cruz Mountains Chardonnay. If you tasted it blind you would think you were drinking Chablis. It’s brilliant and mouth-watering. And delicious.

Jeff Viera of Farm who generously hosted the evening…and the one and only Lou Amdur.

One of my favorites- tender strips of “pork toro,” which is  “grilled fatty hog collar.”

The food was off the chain, as usual. If you haven’t been by for a bite yet, RUN. Like Pete Sampras would for a tennis ball.

Kris happened to have a special Beaujolais on his list that was sold out at our store about as fast as it was put on the shelf. Jean Foillard‘s “Cuvee 3.14″ Morgon. The Foillard wines aren’t cheap, but they sure are special. They have purity and elegance without taking themselves too seriously.

Chef Kris makes his appearance! Thank you so much Kris for yet another delicious meal. And many thanks to Jeff for getting us all together.

Some of the wines we carry in the store that were happily consumed that night:

2011 Arnot-Roberts Santa Cruz Chardonnay, $33

2010 Terres Dorees Morgon, $23

2010 Foillard “Cote du Py” Morgon, $37 (We’re sold out of the 3.14, but we do have this and it’s fantastic!)
